"STERLING" Gillis Memorial K-9 SAR Scholarships For K-9 SAR handlers; must apply to hosting group on their SAR group's letterhead.  Final decision rests with the hosting group.

ASSESSING & OBSERVING BEHAVIOR

Understanding the Individual Dog

 

This seminar is for anyone who wants to understand more about dog behavior, how to observe & assess behavior. Most of all, this workshop focuses on how to to effectively use the information you gather from the dog to make good choices for that individual dog. 

 

Whether that is choosing the best career or home or lifestyle for a dog, understanding the dog's skills & limitations, or helping clients create tailored training plans, this workshop will help you work more effectively with all dogs.

Ideal for 

  • professional trainers, veterinarians, vet techs, rescue & animal shelter workers
  • anyone interested in understanding dog behavior more completely & developing a richer understanding of their dog
  • all serious students of the dog

Using a combination of video & practical hands-on practice, participants will work on:

  • developing & refining observations skills
  • new ways of assessing behavior
  • using the The Elemental Questions
  • developing useful & humane assessments
  • Introduction to CARAT and RAT.

This workshop focuses heavily on behavior, observation, assessment and putting it all to use on behalf of the individual dog.
